SSGT Australian Apprenticeships
An Australian Apprenticeship (apprenticeship or traineeship) can be undertaken on a full time or part time basis and can be used as a valuable stepping stone to start a career in an industry you want to work in.
An Australian Apprenticeship can be from 12 months to 6 years in nominal duration or completed early if you are advanced in your training or have credited previous time or experience in that specific qualification under competency based completion arrangements.
If you are employed as an apprentice or trainee, you will combine work for your employer with structured, off-the-job training organised through a TAFE or Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and receive a nationally recognised qualification.
A special feature Australian Apprenticeships is that a contract of training exists between the employer and the apprentice or trainee that sets out the responsibilities of the employer and the apprentice or trainee to each other and rights of both parties.
Australian Apprenticeships are not just for students leaving school. They are suitable for Victorians of all ages who are interested in jobs that have career prospects in particular industries. They are available in all most every industry and many different vocations within each industry.
